English: The Encombe valley Looking across the Encombe valley from the bridleway between Swyre Head and Polar Wood. The knoll in the valley is of Kimmeridge Clay capped by chert and limestone gravel. Nearby were found elephant, rhinoceros and other Pleistocene animal bones. |
