English: West tower, spire and gable of the south porch of St John the Baptist and St Michael and All Angels parish church, Stanground, Peterborough. Lightning struck the spire during a storm on 24 March 1895, damaging the top six feet. The tip was rebuilt of Honnington stone at a cost of £100 19s 0d. Atmospheric pollution has darkened the replacement stone, giving the spire its black cap. |
