those who were too old to learn, or too sunk inevil, died or were slain. Only occasional glimpses ofthose weary years are shown us. At one time a sabbathbreaker was stoned to death. At another INIoses had toface a serious rebellion inspired by the priesthood, theLevites, the very men whom he had specially raised up tobe Gods ministers. Many of the Levites under the leadership of one, namedKorah, gathered themselves together against Moses andagainst Aaron, and said unto them. Ye take too much uponyou. All the priests, they declared, were equally holy andequally able to interpret Gods will. Moses rebuked themsadly, yet proposed meekly as ever, that the thing shouldbe tested, they should each take a censer of fire andapproach the tabernacle, then the Lord could chooseamong them. On the morrow this was done; and Godin his wrath bade Moses and Aaron stand aside from thefollowers of Korah. And there came out a fire from theLord and consumed the two hundred and fiftymen that offered incense.
