The Beatles Story (Ank Kumar, Infosys Limited)

Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Beatles Story - Ank Kumar, Infosys Limited
Beatles For Sale - Only £30!
This contract is between Joe Flannery
and Brian Epstein, agreeing a fee of
£30.00 for the Beatles to perform at the
Royal Lido, Prestatyn, North Wales on
Saturday 24th November 1962.

The contract was signed on 29th August
1962. Shortly after, the Beatles released
their first single “Love Me Do”. Brian
wanted to cancel the concert as the
success of their first single enabled the
band to play at larger venues. Joe
persuaded Brian to honour the
agreement as he feared the Royal Lido
would take offence and cancel concerts
for Brian's other acts including Cilla
Black and Gerry and The pacemakers.

“Love Me Do” was originally released
on the red Parlophone label, which featured
Ringo Starr on drums. This version was
recorded at Abbey Road Studios on 4th
September 1962. It is said George Martin
was not happy with the drumming and
instructed the band to re-record “Love Me Do”
on 11th September with Andy White on
drums and Ringo playing tambourine.
This was re-released on a black label.

Both the contract and rare red version of
“Love Me Do” are on display for Beatles fans
to enjoy thanks to the generosity of
Joe Flannery.
