| Description |
The driver of a KVG Mercedes bus at the Damgarten end of the long 201 route pads about ,prior to starting the journey back to Ribnitz.. The Mercedes sports the abolished RDG for Ribnitz-Damgarten ,RDG K 3, registration. The majority of the buses and cars here now have NVP registrations for Nord Vorpommern, Sitz Ribnitz-Damgarten. I'm not sure if this dual use is restricted to NVP or whether it is a common practice throughout the New Federal Lands. The bus company only used the title Ribnitz, the much larger and quite separate of the two. Damgarten was in the pre-1945 land of Pommern, whilst Ribnitz was in Mecklenburg. Perhaps the two were amalgamated in an attempt to rub out the former provinces,one of which became largely part of Poland. In 2003, the Ribnitz undertaking fused with that of Grimmen, creating a large operation with two modern depots. The 201 connects the Turning place at Damgarten with the Boddencenter in Ribnitz.
