Summary[edit]

Description
English: Water (H2O) is actually a bent molecule. Oxygen has two lone pairs of electrons that do not bond with another atom. Since water is a tetrahedral molecule, the lone pairs must be adjacent to each other. When this happens, the lone pairs exert a repulsive force on each other effectively bending the entire molecule. This bent nature generates polarity in the water molecule
Slovenščina: Voda (H2O) je pravzaprav upognjena molekula. Kisik ima dva osamljena para elektronov, ki se ne vežeta z drugim atomom. Ker je voda tetraedrična molekula, morajo biti osamljeni pari drug ob drugem. Ko se to zgodi, osamljeni pari delujejo drug na drugega z odbojno silo, kar povzroči upogibanje celotne molekule. Ta upognjena narava povzroča polarnost vodne molekule
