Title
English: Temporary Fremont Bridge, Seattle, March 18, 1915
Description
English:

The original bridge to Fremont was razed in 1911 to make way for the dredging of the Lake Washington Ship Canal; during this time, all traffic was rerouted to the temporary Stone Way Bridge, just five blocks to the east. A second temporary bridge served the original gap until 1915, when traffic was again rerouted to the Stone Way Bridge so that construction on the newest Fremont Bridge could begin.

This image of the second temporary bridge is facing north, looking across the canal towards Fremont. The grocery in the center of the frame was located at 151 Nickerson Street and belonged to Carl Signor.

James P. Lee (1894-1963) was the City of Seattle's Engineering Department photographer from 1922-1957.
