DescriptionTells Kapelle.jpg |
English: Tellskapelle as seen from Bauen, Switzerland;
The Tellskapelle is a chapel on the banks of the Lake Lucerne, 3 km from Sisikon in the Swiss canton of Uri. She was built on the spot where William Tell supposedly jumped of the boat of bailiff Gessler at the so-called Tellsplatte. The first chapel was erected in 1388, the present chapel was built in 1879/1880. Four frescoes adorn the walls depicting the oath of Rütli, the shooting of the apple, Tell's Jump and Gessler death.
