Summary[edit]

Description
English: Title: Taylor

Abstract: A campaign print, grandiose in design and imagery, for Whig presidential candidate Zachary Taylor. A corona of thirty stars appears in a burst of light. Emanating streams of light illuminate a broad expanse of sky filled with clouds. In the center of the sky is a large bald eagle, holding a cluster of thunderbolts in one talon and an olive branch in the other. He descends toward the name "Taylor," which is spelled out in massive block letters across the sky below. On each letter is the name of a Taylor military victory, with the number of forces under Taylor's command and those of the enemy. The battles include (from left to right): Fort Harrison, Okee-Cho-Bee, Palo Alto, Resaca del la Palma, Monterey, and Buena Vista. Placed in and around each letter are combat scenes. Prominent on top of each letter is an American flag, that on the letter "T" having a liberty cap as well. A vine of laurel connects all of the letters. Physical description: 1 print on wove paper : lithograph printed in black, buff, and pale green ; image 33 x 44.8 cm.
