Deutsch: Der Tagebau Cottbus-Nord war ein Braunkohletagebau im Lausitzer Braunkohlerevier, der von der Vattenfall Europe Mining AG betrieben wurde. Der flächenmäßig größere Teil befindet sich im Gebiet der Stadt Cottbus, ein kleinerer Teil berührt den Landkreis Spree-Neiße. Die Kohleförderung wurde 1981 aufgenommen und am 23. Dezember 2015 eingestellt. Nach der beendeten Förderung wird die Tagebaufläche renaturiert. Neben kleineren Flächen für die Forstwirtschaft, soll ein Großteil des Tagebaues geflutet werden. Dabei soll mit dem künftigen Cottbuser Ostsee der größte See des Lausitzer Tagebauseengebietes entstehen. English: Cottbus-Nord, a former lignite mine in the Lausitz region, operated by Vattenfall Europe Mining AG. Most of the visible area is located in the city of Cottbus; a smaller part touches the Spree-Neisse district. Coal was produced from 1981 until December 23, 2015. After production ended the mining area was rehabilitated. In addition to smaller areas for forestry, a large part of the open pit mine was flooded. With the future Cottbus Baltic it will be the largest lake in the Lusatian days Bause area. |
