Summary[edit]
DescriptionTaeping Close - geograph.org.uk - 955311.jpg |
English: Taeping Close New residential development in Cellardyke. The street is named after the tea clipper "Taeping" made famous in a Tea Race with the clipper "Ariel". The two ships raced each other from China and arrived in London Docks within 10 minutes of each other. Taeping was first to arrive, but the owners agreed to share the 10 shillings per ton bonus for the first tea landed at the docks. |
