DescriptionT.W. THOMPSON FEB 22 1862.jpg |
English: One of several Civil War-era inscriptions carven into the wall of the main nature trail at Giant City State Park in far northern Union County, Illinois, United States. The collection of inscriptions is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the "Thompson Brothers Rock Art", because it is essentially the only surviving physical relic of Civil War strife between northern partisans and southern partisans in the region, as well as for the potential of using it to identify partisans. |
