the Windsorespecially being very sour when first ripe ; but there is no doubt that the great million-mouthed public will buy them and with smacking lips ask for more ! If the Manchesterproves as productive and otherwise good for market on light soil as I fully anticipate,it will leave both of them far in the rear, as it is handsomer, firmer and better flavored ;but meantime the Manchester is too dear to set out in large quantities, and requiresfurther testing on Canadian soils, so that market gardners who plant Crescent andWindsor on light soils are sure to put money in their purseâespecially where Wilsonhas run out. They are both immensely productiveâthe Crescent early and Windsorvery lateâboth sure to be sold by shop-keepers as pure Wilsons, both better flavoredon sandy land, but both pistillateâneeding every 6th or 8th row to be say Wilson,Sharpless or Glendale. Priceâ30c. per doz., $1.00 per hundred, free by mail; $5.00 per thousand, $20.00 perfive thousand, by express.

History.âThe James Vick Strawberry originated with Samuel Miller, in Montgom-ery County, Missouri. As a seedling, it attracted attention by the glossiness, vigor andbeauty of its foliage before it bore fruit, and was planted and watched anxiously. Whenit fruited and gave promise of great value, Mr. Miller sent it here to be tested, and toa few others in different States. It is therefore not introduced without knowing how itwill succeed away from its home. We know of no berry of recent introduction whichhas been so thoroughly tested, and which has not been found deficient in any respectin any locality.
