| Description |
Svenska: Täljstensbrottet i i Stålkullen i Ytterby är ett av några i Kungälvstrakten i sydligaste Bohuslän, men är ovanlig då här också finns hällristningar, varav fyra skepp och en skålgrop är synliga. Figurristningar är inte speciellt vanliga i södra av detta landskap. Skeppen är dubbellinjiga med uppsvängd stäv och för. På två av dem syns så kallade bemanningsstreck som symboliserar både spant och masnkapet ombord. Utöver skeppen finns här ocks en skålgrop. Platsen utnyttjades från bronsåldern då de djupa figurristningarna ristades i den mjuka täljstenen och ända fram till vikingatiden, då detta stenbrott användes för att bl a göra grytor, sländtrissor och nätsänken av täljsten, vilken gick att skära i med sten. Grytämnen och andra urgröpningar finns fortfarande kvar i berget och kanske användes berget till att göra gjutformar redan under bronsåldern. |
