Se forman poros (o agujeros) transmembrana alrededor de partículas de aproximadamente 1 a 20 nm de diámetro. Las figuras 3D mostradas son la representación adaptada de la serie de imágenes de microscopía de fuerza atómica en modo de toma grabadas en medio tampón líquido.
