RURAL HOMES. 19 and rich pasture and agricultural region, in the Delaware,a short distance below Philadelphia. This station wasformerly known as Athensville, and has for many yearsbeen the business centre of a thickly-populated neigh-borhood. There are some extensive manufactorieslocated in the vicinity, and the various branches ofdomestic merchandising, the ordinary mechanical trades,and the professions, are represented among its industriesand inhabitants. It contains several churches, publicand private schools, a Masonic hall, and a public library.The advantages presented by this locality have causedthe erection of a number of elegant residences in thevicinity recently, and the demand for building-sites isactive. Probably no station in the neighborhood ofPhiladelphia has greater promise than this, and it wasto encourage its growth, and accommodate its travel,that the railroad company erected here one of the mostbeautiful and convenient passenger stations on their line.
