Summary[edit]
DescriptionStuttgart-Schlossplatz-at-night.jpg |
English: The northern fountain and the New Castle in Stuttgart, Germany. The two fountains on the Schlossplatz (Castle Square) have been built for the birthday of Wilhelm I, king of Württemberg, on September 27th 1863. On each fountain, four statues emblematize watercourses in the former kingdom. On the depicted northern fountain the rivers Jagst (left), Tauber (middle), Donau / Danube (right), Nagold (not visible). On the southern fountain (not visible) the Neckar, Kocher, Fils und Enz. At the end of World War II the statues were stolen, but reconstructed with the help of old photographies until 1989.
