Summary[edit]

Description This is a restored wedge snowplow in the Strasburg Rail Road collection in Strasburg, Pennsylvania, USA. Snow trains were headed by such snow plows by being pushed from behind by one or more locomotives. Unlike rotary snowplows, which used rotating blades to loosen and expel snow and ice, wedge snowplows merely pushed snow and ice to the sides of the tracks. This unit was built in 1902. It originally belonged to the Buffalo & Susquehanna Railroad. It was subsequently on the Wellsville, Addison & Galeton Railroad.
