King Lear (Sanjay G. Singh), Carrying dead Cordelia (Vedha Rooba) in his arms in the final scene of the play "The Fall of King Lear" by PEPAC Theatre Company

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The play "The Fall of King Lear", an adaptation of Shakespeare's King Lear, was produced and organized by PEPAC Theatre Company on December 20 & 21, 2021. The play featured Sanjay G. Singh himself, who happens to be the Managing Director of the company. PEPAC Theatre Company became an existence when the founders of Literpretation; Mr. Sanjay G. Singh and Ms. Lathiga R.M, decided to start another venture, where the idea of language teaching and Drama/ acting goes hand in hand. The play was staged at Madurai Kamaraj University. Being among the top universities of India, it must be evident that there would have been lots of culturals on the premises, but to share a fascinating fact about this particular play in this university is, that the Campus had never seen an English play in 57 years of its existence. which makes PEPAC Theatre Company the first ever to stage an English play at the University. The team faced so many troubles in the making of the play. the rise in covid 19 pandemic cases and the rainy atmosphere in the region of Madurai, Iyyer bungalow road, during the months of the rehearsals made the team a lot more impatient. The plan to stage in October had to be taken to December. The Director of the play Mrs. Ramya Chelliah who proposed the play, too, went busy during the crucial staging days. Miss Lathiga R.M, the chairperson of PEPAC took over in charge and Directed the Play as we fondly call it "The Fall Of King Lear".

The Drama event; "The Fall of King lear" by PEPAC Theatre Company, never got news articles in the papers or on television. This shows the hatred towards Literature and Arts. One of the news articles did print on the smallest possible side of the paper, but unfortunately, some other person who was absolutely not a part of the event was given the entire credit for the show. We still are unsure how this happened, but hopefully the truth will be out one day.
