Description

Deutsch: Pavillon 23 wurde für gewalttätige männliche Patienten gebaut und daher mit erhöhten Sicherheitseinrichtungen versehen. Im Rahmen der T4-Aktion wurden die Patienten jedoch in die Tötungsanstalt Hartheim deportiert, das Haus war entleert. Ab Ende 1941 befand sich darin die Städtische Arbeitsanstalt Am Steinhof für asoziale Frauen, die dem Einfluss der zentralen Asozialenkommission unterstand. Nach 1945 wurden mehrere Funktionäre, zwei leitende Ärzte sowie Pflegepersonal der Anstalt vor dem de:Volksgericht (Österreich) wegen nationalsozialistischer Verbrechen verurteilt. Nach dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs diente der Pavillon einige Monate als Lager für Nationalsozialisten, anschließend als Polizeigefängnis. Seit der Strafrechtsreform 1975 befindet sich darin die Abteilung für forensische Psychiatrie.
