Description
English: Statue of Hermes. Pentelic marble. Found at Aigion, Peloponnese. The god is depicted standing, wearing a chlamys that is wound around his left arm. In his right hand he held a purse and in his left the caduceus. Work of the Augustan period (27 B.C. – A.D. 14), probably funerary, inspired by Lysippean originals of the 4th c. B.C.
