Summary[edit]

Description Main Street, Buffalo. Pulaski was was a Polish nobleman, soldier and military commander who has been called "the father of American cavalry". Born in Warsaw, he was one of the leading military commanders for the Bar Confederation and fought against Russian domination of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. When this uprising failed, he was driven into exile and following the endorsement of Benjamin Franklin he emigrated to North America to fight in the American War of Independence Revolution becoming a general in the Continental Army, leading the Pulaski Cavalry Legion and reformed the American cavalry. he was mortally wounded at the Battle of Savannah. Buffalo has a large Polish-American population.
