Summary[edit]

Description
English: “The protocol of the commission dated 04/19/1918 announced that the national flag consists of three colors: red…green…yellow at the top; in the upper corner of the flag, near the pole or in the middle of it, there must be the coat of arms of the state. Such a flag was unanimously approved by the Council of Lithuania on April 25, 1918 and decided to raise it in Vilnius, on the tower of the Gediminas Castle, after receiving the permission of the German occupation administration. After a disrespectful article appeared in the press about lowering the German flag and raising the Lithuanian flag, the Germans returned their flag to the tower, and allowed the tricolor to be raised below or on the side (the Presidium of the Council of Lithuania refused this right).”
