Description
English: Mother and daughter from the Peut family, ca. 1922

Sarah Ellen Peut (nee Patterson) and daughter Lily Edna. Sarah was the daughter of Sarah Elizabeth Paterson (nee Plumb) and grand-daughter of Jeremiah and Caroline Plumb. Sarah Peut (16.10.1877 to 4.8.1964) married Robert Peut on 24 March 1870. Robert was killed over Germany during the Dambusters raid on 15 November 1944. One of their sons, Howard H. C. Peut, was found near Julia Creek with his neck broken after being thrown from his horse. They had three other sons, Claude Vivien, Harold Roy and Robert Christopher.

Lily Edna Peut (19.7.1909 to 28.5.1987) was a foundation member of Toowoomba Senior Citizens Club and a life member. She was also a life member of the Royal Society of St. George. She held executive positions at the club, having been president and treasurer at various times. She was secretary of St. Luke's Indoor Bowls Club, past president of the Manchester Unity Friendly Society and a member of the order of Eastern Star Lodge. (Information supplied with photograph).
