Annotatie:

Skarzynsky maakte in 1933 een succesvolle solovlucht over de Atlantische Oceaan in een eenmotorig vliegtuigje van Saint Louis in Senegal naar Maceio in Brazilie. Na de Duitse inval in Polen werd hij Commanding Officer van de Polish Flying Schools van de Britse RAF. Daarbij nam hij actief deel aan luchtacties boven Duitsland. In 1942 kwam hij om bij een noodlanding op de Noordzee. Zijn laatste rustplaats vond hij op het Nederlandse Waddeneiland Terschelling.

Annotation:

Skarzynsky made a successful solo flight over the Atlantic in 1933 in a single-engine plane from Saint Louis in Senegal to Maceio in Brazil. After the German invasion of Poland he became Commanding Officer of the Polish Flying Schools of the British RAF. He also took an active part in air operations over Germany. In 1942 he was killed in an emergency landing on the North Sea. He found his last resting place on the Dutch Wadden island of Terschelling.
