Description

Stamp of Romania; 1974; commemorative stamp of the issue "Impressionist Paintings"; As stamp motive is showing a detail of the painting "L'Église de Moret - le soir" (English: "Moret Church") by the English painter Alfred Sisley (1839-1899) (lived in France); Meant is the commune "Moret-sur-Loing" in the Département "Seine-et-Marne" (France) (: fusion of "Moret-sur-Loing" with "Écuelles" and new name: "Orvanne"); The painted monastery church "Notre Dame" by the impressionist Alfred Sisley originates from the 15th century, but was then built on the ruins of an older church from the 12th century.; The depicted painting was created in 1894 in the style of the impressionism and is contemporary located in the "Musée des Beaux Arts de la ville de Paris" (the former "Palais Petite").; This palais was built in 1900 for the then "Exposition Universelle" and is actually a museum and art gallery.; stamp postmarked by CTO
