Description

Stamp of the United Arab Emirates – Emirate Fujeira; 1972; commemorativwe stamp of the issue "nude paintings". Issue of 5 stamps; Depicted ia the stamp UAE-FU Michel-No. 1008A from 1972 and shows as motive the painting "Virsavia" (= "Bathsheba at bath") by the Russian artist with German roots Karl Pavlovich Briullov (diverse spellings of his family name, among others "Brulloff") (1799-1852). He created this painting in 1832 in the style of the romantism (Realism with romantistic tendencies and "Neoclassicism" in his portraits). Contemporary is this painting located in the Tretyakov-Gallery in Moscow (room 9). Batsheba is a figure from the Old Testament and was the mother of Solomon and Wife of the Uriatta, an Officer in the army of King David (his grandson)).; This painting remained unfinished.; Unfortunately this stamp was postmarked by CTO.
