Stamp of Greece; 1944; commemorative stamp of the issue "Landscapes"; The stamp motive shows a view to the rock with the monastery "Meteora"; Stamp by the printery "Aspioti-Elka" (= narrow connection to De La Rue in London); This printery was founded in 1873 by Gerasimus Aspiotis on Corfu as factory for playing cards.; In 1911 as printery for stamps and banknotes ("Aspiotis Brothers").; In 1933 re-naming in "Aspiotis-Elka" ("Elka" = "Etairia Lithographias kai Kytiopoieias Athenon"), since 1984 S.A.; depicted is the monastery ("Moni") "Agias Trinados" (= Genitive from "Holy Trinity") in the region Thessaly; Erected was this monastery probably in the 15th century ("Monastery of the Holy Trinity").; Since 1988 are the "Méteor"-monasteries in Greece (total sum: 24, but only 6 are all-the-year habitated) part of the UNESCO World Culture Heritage.; monochromized; mint stamp
