Stamp of New Caledonia; 1928; definitive stamp of the "Issue of Bird Kagu, landscapes and ship"; The stamp motive shows a sailingboat (one-mast-ship) in the "Bay Pointe des Palétuviers" (German: "paletuvier" = "Küsten-..."; "Palétuvier" = "Mangrove", so German: "Boot in der Magrovenbucht").; There exist 23 species of Mangroves (22+1) but only two species come into consideration: "Avicennia germinans" (= "Palétuvier noire", German: "Schwarze Mangrove") and "Rhizophora mangle" (= "Palétuvier rouge", German: "Rote Mangrove").; It's originally the name of a bay of the New Hebrides (at Port-Vila, contemporary state of "Vanuatu"); stamp without overprints; nominal value corresponding the colors; mint stamp

Author "Bureau d'études des postes et télécommunationes d'outre-mér" (BEPTOM) as "Bureau" of "La Poste du France" (initially); since 1894 with the "Agence des Timbres-poste d'outre-mer" (ATPOM), Paris.; To then time were stamps for New Caledonia printed at the "Imprimerie des timbres-poste et des valeurs fiduciares", (since 1880) Paris and initially in the contemporary Perigeux.
