| Description |
English: St Michael & All Angels, Halton The Church of St. Michael & All Angels was built in 1813 in a poor adaptation of a 13th century style. It was restored and remodelled in 1886-7. It is on the site of an earlier church, whose registers go back to the early 17th century, but which was much older, and a brass from the old church has been reset in the chancel. A list of former rectors goes back to 1290 http://met.open.ac.uk/genuki/big/eng/BKM/Halton/rectors.html .
The church is a Grade II listed building https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1332842 and extensive information on the church and the village are published in the Victoria County History http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=62783. |
