English: St Mary, Broomfield, Essex - Wall monument in south nave to Thomas Manwood (died 1718). Text per listed building text [1]: "White marble with black marble inscription panel, sill and apron consoles. Fluted Ionic pilasters with carved volutes rise to black marble frieze and terminate in a scrolled swan-necked pediment containing an achievement. Opened tent cloth arranged as a swag framing inscription panel". Arms of Manwood: Sable, two pallets or on a chief of the second a demi-lion issuant rampant of the first (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.657) |
