| Description |
English: St Leonards on sea, Marine Court viewed from beneath Hastings Pier. In November we enjoy spectacular sunsets looking west towards the Downs from Hastings. Hastings Pier, recently refurbished, is still pleasantly wonky and rickety in places and you feel something heavy is likely to drop off onto you walking beneath it. Bits of fishing nets get caught up on the piles. The smell of barnacles, seaweed and mussels. You can see, in the distance, the Art Deco block Marine Court (Dalgleish and Pullen 1935/36), lit in blue. Design was inspired by the Queen Mary ocean liner. It is visible from many a mile out to sea. |
