Description Arms of Jerningham: Argent, three buckles lozengy gules with canton of a baronet, impaling: Azure, a fess dancettée the two upper points terminating in (demi-) fleurs-de-lis or (Plowden) (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.808 "Plowden of Plowden, Shropshire, of this ancient family was the learned serjeant-at-law Edmund Plowden of Plowden, so eminent as a lawyer temp. Queens Mary I and Elizabeth"). See Sir w:Edmund Plowden (1519/20-1585). Plowden Hall was in the parish of Lydbury North, Shropshire.
