Summary[edit]

Description

Stereocard view of 1904 World Fair, Louisiana Purchase Exposition, St. Louis, Missouri.

  • Original caption:
    • EAST LAGOON, PALACES OF EDUCATION AND MANUFACTURE.
This vista along the East Lagoon toward the Tower of Wireless Telegraphy was much admired. At the extreme left is seen the Palace of Education, joined in the middleground by the Palace of Manufacture. The steel tower of the wireless telegraphy station was located near the Press Building and was connected with antoher station near the American Reservation. Messages were sent from the fair grounds to many distant cities during the Exposition. The tower shown in the picture was 300 feet high. An elevator carried visitors to the top, where a magnificent view of the exposition grounds and their surroundings awarded one for the trouble of riding up. The central exhibit of the De Forrest Wireless Telegraph Company, who operated the apparatus, was in the Palace of Electricity, where wondering throngs always surrounded the operators.
