Description
Deutsch: Die evangelisch-lutherische St.-Jakobi-Kirche ist ein neugotischer Kirchenbau und wurde am 19. März 1899 eingeweiht. Architekt war der versierte Kirchenbaumeister und hannoversche Stadtbauinspektor Eberhard Hillebrand. Ein großer Teil der Glasfenster und die Pläne für die Innenausmalung stammen von dem Glas- und Dekorationsmaler Prof. Alexander Linnemann. Hillebrand und Linnemann arbeiteten seit 1885 eng zusammen. Der Höhepunkt ihrer kongenialen Zusammenarbeit dürfte die St.-Jakobi-Kirche sein. Die künstlerische Gestaltung des Kircheninnenraumes wird geprägt durch die figürliche und dekorative Ausmalung, die farbintensiven Bildfenster sowie Altar und Kanzel. Die Kirche wurde 1994 renoviert und ist ein Juwel der Stadt Peine.
