Summary[edit]

Description
English: Teresa Grigolino (Mambratta 1853 - Verona 1931) came to Sudan in 1875 as a Catholic nun of the Comboni Sisters missionary order and became Sister Superior in El Obeid, Kordofan. When the city was conquered by the indigenous Mahdist army in 1883, she was forced into marriage with the Greek trader Dimitris Kokorempas. They had two sons. (The exact date of the photograph is unknown, but must have been before 1883)
