English: A spittle bug was living on my patio in a mum flower plant giving me the opportunity for observation and to share what it looks like. An interesting fact is that it does not make foamy spit from its mouth. The rear end contracts, opening and closing for the foamy, airy, substance to form the protective home that keeps its body moist. So technically spittle bugs should be called fart or gas bugs since the spit is not formed from its mouth.
