Summary[edit]

Description
English: Photo taken at the Lofoten War Memorial Museum (Norwegian: Lofoten Krigsminnemuseum) in Svolvær, Norway's largest exhibition of uniforms and smaller items related to the Second World War and the German occupation of Norway 1940 – 1945:
  • Mannequin dressed in a winter uniform of the Soviet Red Army (RKKA) as a prisoner of war on German lead forced labour durty during World War II:
    • budenovka (будёновка, шлем суконный), the archetypal early Soviet pointed military hat with peak and folded earflaps that can be buttoned under the chin. In the Red Army, Budenovka had mostly been replaced by the start of the Great Patriotic War in 1941, but some were still used by Soviet partisans.
    • Telogreika (телогре́йка, "body warmer"), vatnik (ватник) or fufaika (Фуфайка), a Russian kind of warm cotton quilted, wool-padded jacket, issued as part of the winter uniform by the Red Army during World War II.
    • Red Star national cockade
The uniforms and equipment of the RKKA during the Great Patriotic War (GPW/WW2) can be described as simple, yet comfortable and practical. The basic uniform consists of a wedge cap (side cap, garrison cap), pilotka with a Red Star cockade, a pullover tunic, gymnastiorka, a pair of breeches, sharovari, and lastly, jackboots, sapogi, or ammo boots (ankle boots) worn with puttees (legwraps), botinki c obmotki. Telogreika (vatnik, fufaika) jackets and pants, warm, quilted, padded cotton winter outwear, became part of the Soviet Red Army winter uniform during the German-Soviet War (WW2).
