Summary[edit]

Description
English: Khandoba of Jejuri is the patriarch of Maharashtra. If Somvati Amavasya falls on a Monday, Somvati Yatra is organized at Jejuri fort. According to this tradition, Somvati Yatra is organized today at the fort of Khandoba in Jejuri. During the Somvati Yatra, the festival idol of Khandoba is bathed in the Karha river. Later, the idol is ritually worshiped by taking it to the fort. A large number of devotees participate in this ceremony and later in the darshan ceremony at the fort. Lakhs of devotees visit Khanderaya.
