Summary[edit]

Description
English: Sloe berries (Prunus spinosa ) This year there is an abundance of sloe berries in the hedgerows. An ancestor of the cultivated plum, the sloe or blackthorn is used in the making of the liqueur, sloe gin. A wonderfully vibrant pink coloured drink much favoured at Christmas when the berries will have infused sufficiently well with the gin and sugar.
