English: Centrumhuset. Early modernism building in Skellefteå
Svenska: Centrumhuset. Gunni (Gunhild) Edin lät bygga detta butiks- och hyreshus 1934. Arkitekt var Birger Dahlberg, Skellefteå. Fru Edin drev också Centralhotellet vid torget. Huset har fyra våningar med delvis inredd vindsvåning. Mot torget finns burspråk och rundade hörnbalkonger. Sockeln är klädd med klinkerplattor. Bottenvåningen har marmorfasad, i övrigt har fasaderna ljus puts. Byggnaden var stadens första fyravåningshus; det var dessutom det första med sopnedkast. Huset är byggt i en renodlad funktionalistisk stil, ”funkis”. I hörnet mot Kanalgatan låg fram till 1974 ett av stadens många kaféer, Centrumkonditoriet. |
