Description

This is a drawing of the «munitionsaufzug» (ammunition lift) for the German 28 cm Schiffskanone C/34 gun, designed for the Dhr. L. C/28 armored turret.

The C/34 guns were placed in the Dhr. C/28 gun turret, originally on the ships «Scharnhorst» and «Gneisenau». «Gneisenau» was damaged in an aerial attack in 1942, and her guns were placed ashore, at costal batteries. Two of the turrets, with at total of six guns, were placed in Norway, at Austrått and Fjell, of which the one at Austrått still remains as a museum today. The third turret was placed in Holland.
