En af teckningarna i Le Pierrot visar parisiskan dubbandeden hvite och svarte pierrot till riddare af månskenet. Pierrot-typen fick genom Willette en ny glansperiod. Änhvit, än svart, än glad, än melankolisk, svärmar denne drömmareoch mänskensfigur omkring på Montmartre. Och den nye»Watteau pä Montmartre» skildrar sig själf med sitt konstnärs-lättsinne, sin kärlekstörst och sitt hat till det konventionellaibland ironisk, ofta sensuell, alltid med den naivitet, som utgör 356 MONTMARTRESKOLAN.

Obekymrad som de små parflar,hvilka utan att tänka på döden, som väntar, hoppa omkring imånskenet på hans bild Vlä le Choléra (bild 286), bor han litethvarstans, äter han här och hvar. Hans kärlek till la Montmar-troise är beständig: svarta, blonda och rödhåriga, alla stå dehans hjärta lika nära, bara Pierrot kan få drömma, dansa ochälska några timmar med dem och skratta åt deras näpna oför- 357 FRANKRIKE.
