Summary[edit]
DescriptionSite of the "Bull's-eye", Crossroads, Omagh - geograph.org.uk - 607832.jpg |
English: Site of the "Bull's-eye", Crossroads, Omagh. The bull's-eye was located at the corner of the Old Mountfield Road and the Mountjoy Road at a spot between the two traffic lights. It was removed about the 1960's due to it being a traffic hazard. It actually projected out onto the road and one local resident re-calls an incident when it collided with a passing car and the vehicle ended up astride it. Also interesting to note that at this corner was a dwelling and shop with one of the last thatched roofs in Omagh. There was another toll house on the Derry Road with a thatched roof, demolished about the 1980's. There still is a similar stone at Doagh village in County Antrim 1586863. |
