| Description |
English: Site of Bolingbroke Castle and Rout Yard, Old Bolingbroke On Tuesday 06-Sep-2009, preparation work started on widening the moat. After checking for hidden wildlife, an area was roped-off between the Castle and the Rout Yard and a start, by Creative Nature, on cropping back the vegetation to enable dumpers to run between the moat and the yard for the removal of silt, which has built up in the moat over the years. A pair of tracked dumpers will be employed.
Large clumps of marsh grass were strimmed and warning signs erected and the contractors worked into the night. Within about half-an-hour of leaving some of the signs were destroyed by vandals. Two youths had been seen hanging around the area. Next day after two excavators arrived, Ben Burgess from Creative Nature, had the task of going all the way back to Grimsby from Old Bolingbroke to fetch more signs and is considering camping out on the site to secure it.
