Summary[edit]

Description

A single saltmarsh sparrow chick in the woven grass nest. The thick yellow frown helps the young bird receive food from its mother, by allowing the chick to open its mouth wide to fit whole insects. As the bird ages, the bill will change and it will lose this frowny look. Nest monitoring should always be conducted by trained individuals with proper permitting.
