Summary[edit]

Description
English: Shaft Grave IV, Grave Circle A, Mycenae. 1600-1500 BC.

National Archaeological Museum, Athens.

Silver rhyton with gold horns and rosette on the forehead. The muzzle, which has a pouring hole, is gold-plated, as were initially the eyes and the inside of the ears. Minoan influence is evident in this spectacular artifact, as it might have been created by a Cretan artist. The Heraklion museum in Crete exhibits a similar rhyton.
