| Description |
English: Sign for the Pack Horse The sign is a reminder of the horses which carried packs of goods, such as corn and wool, in the days before canals, railways and the like, catered for bulk transport. Pack horses often travelled in trains of up to forty at a time. They would have been a familiar sight on the roads, and the men in charge of them would have been very regular customers at inns, seeking refreshment for themselves and the horses. |
