English: Continuous direct reduction furnace invented by Carl Wilhelm Siemens,. The heating system of this open-hearth furnace is at the left. The iron ore, miwed with coal, is loaded at the right. The slag continuously runs by a hole, the liquid steel is tapped from time to time.
