English: This is a digital drawing I made on iPad and desktop computer using their backlit LED screens as canvas and stylus. I made 60x40 in canvas prints of the drawing on a large format printer installed in my studio in Boston, MA.

The drawing is a part of my current project “Of No Fixed Address”. The project will be on view at ArtSpace Maynard as a part of my solo exhibition at their gallery from February 27- April 5, 2019. Of No Fixed Address is a travelers tale. It distills my experiences of a nomadic life over that past decade that led me from Mumbai to Boston, via Hong Kong and Paris. In this project I establish connections between people and places that transcend national, social, cultural and geographical borders. I have combined colloquial expressions of my native Mithila with digital technology, phantasm, humor, theatrics and memories of my travels to facilitate non-hierarchical cross cultural interactivity.

To Khi Khi Khi is to giggle in colloquial Hindi. My mother held regular get-togethers with her friends and colleagues where my job would be to serve tea and snacks. Their laughter and giggles were their way of standing up to dominant power structures in everyday lives. The resonance of their gesture transcends geographical and cultural borders, it is as relevant today as it was then.
